Divinity Original Sin 2 overview

The original Original Sin, despite all its advantages, was a game with noticeable problems. Here you have a rather unassuming plot, and simple companions, which was only two, and a pile of other, not so significant, disadvantages. Did the developers really manage to fix the frustrating disadvantages and take the concept of Original Sin to a new level? Yes. It’s true that Original Sin 2 wasn’t an ideal game, but where did you see the perfect games in general? However, in Larian they clearly understood where they “didn’t catch up”, thought, thought, and seriously started to work. If you are tired of some games, such as the new Call Of Duty Black Ops, it makes sense to try Divinity Original Sin 2.

Let’s be honest, not many people liked the plot of Original Sin. In the best case, it was just passing somewhere in the background, at the worst – annoying. The story rolled too quickly and cheerfully into an abyss, on the edge of which stood a whole forest of warning signs “carefully, genre stamps”. The main characters suffered from amnesia, and when they got rid of it, they found out that they were the Chosen Ones. The villain’s motivation was maximally evil, and the final boss, of course, was a very evil dragon, who went to the world in a few moves. Smaller examples, even somehow it is inconvenient to remember – to retell the plot of the original and really enough two sentences.

Features of Divinity Original Sin 2

In the second part of the cliche is also enough, but used beaten moves much more neatly and often lead to unexpected junctions. History as a whole has become darker, humor and fooling around are pushed to the background – this is found mainly in side quests. This is not yet a dark fantasy, but the world has become livelier and more realistic. But any story is made by its heroes, and in Original Sin 2, the plot is intertwined with a huge number of characters. The six main characters and dozens of NPCs are all personalities, and it’s very difficult to divide them into “good” and “bad”.

Each character has a sin or two, and the further you go, the wider they reveal to you the soul. At the same time, the local heroes very rarely get to the “light” or “dark” side – they just live and act according to the situation. Just like ordinary people. And this applies not only to the main characters, but also to the NPC. Here, let’s say, one character seems to be an unambiguous scoundrel – he makes his henchmen catch the magicians of Istok, who he takes to the distant islands. Almost the Inquisitor! And then it turns out that he also put on a collar limiting the magic of the Origin, he is amicably lied to by several other characters, and all his atrocities he created sincerely, to save the world. Do you still think he is 100% bad?

Or another character – in the past, the protagonist of Divine Divinity, Lucian Divine. He managed to die shortly before Original Sin 2, and in the game itself we are shown two images of this hero. One is a valiant defender of the world, who fought with demons and fans of Chaos. The second – a real monster, using a monstrous weapon against their own allies, albeit for the destruction of the terrible enemy.

And all this information does not fall on you immediately, does not bury under tons of text. It will have to be searched for and collected to make a single picture of what is happening. But finally all the details will be assembled into a whole picture only for the final credits – such a tangled story. However, if you don’t dig and dig, missing a lot of details, the story will still remain coherent and interesting, so the freedom in the new Divinity Original Sin 2 is no longer just in the gameplay.
